Families invited to early literacy event series

Roseburg Schools is inviting families with children ages 2 to 4 to discover fun, engaging ways to support early literacy development through a series of free family literacy nights offered throughout the 2026-27 school year.
The three themed events will give Roseburg-area families opportunities to explore early literacy through play, storytelling and hands-on activities. Each event will offer similar activities and resources that families can use at home to help young children build foundational skills for future learning.
The series includes three family-friendly events:

The literacy night series is part of Roseburg Schools' ongoing efforts to strengthen early literacy development and help children build the skills they need to succeed in school. Families do not need to have children enrolled in Roseburg Schools to participate.
Roseburg Schools is one of 30 Oregon school districts selected to receive funding through the 2025–2029 Comprehensive Literacy State Development (CLSD) grant. The district was awarded $1.1 million over four years to strengthen evidence-based literacy instruction and expand opportunities for students and families. The federally funded grant aligns with Oregon's Early Literacy Success Initiative, which focuses on helping children develop a strong foundation in reading.
